Phycoeritryn Pigments In Carrageenan From Algae Kappaphycus alvarezii (Doty) Doty 1996

Kappaphycus alvarezii is a marine alga cultivated in Indonesia and produces carrageenan. Carrageenan product used the cosmetic, food, pharmaceutical industries. This study aimed to test viscosity gel strength of refined carrageenan with addition natural dye phycoerythrin from algae Halymenia durvillei different concentrations. Refine was made using alkaline solvents 4% NaOH 5% KOH then boiled pressure cooker. The results showed reddish color change pure refinement pigment, especially at concentration 50%. average value for 49.22 – 50.27 cP, ranged 47.16 50.12 cP. Testing carrageenan, 72.67 82.00 mm/g/sec, 81.00 81.78 mm/g/sec. pigment refine had no effect on strength. Drying temperature 100oC obtained water content semi-refined between 2.91 - 4.38%, this accordance standard FAO, which maximum 12%.Keywords: Carrageenan, pigments, alvarezii, durvillei, viscosity, strength.AbstrakKappaphycus merupakan laut yang dibudidayakan di dan penghasil karagenan. Karagenan suatu produk digunakan dalam industri kosmetik, makanan, juga farmasi. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah menguji viskositas kekuatan terhadap karagenan ditambahkan pigmen fikoeritrin dengan perbedaan konsentrasi. dibuat menggunakan pelarut alkali selanjutnya direbus tekanan tinggi. Hasil didapat menunjukan bahwa terjadi perubahan warna kemerahan pada penambahan fikoeritrin, terutama konsentrasi Nilai rata-rata untuk berkisar Pengujian diperoleh sebesar mm/g/det mm/g/det.
